Word has it that Hubspot founder Dharmesh Shah is a huge introvert, and I suspect the same for many of their best employees (and alumns). No wonder the company is king of "inbound" marketing! But I didn't come here to gossip...

Instead, I just wanted to tell you that I too am an introvert. It might not be obvious when I'm pitching Furiocity - or maybe it is! Here's what cemented it in my mind. I attended NEVCA's 2019 NEVY awards which must have had 1000 people there (or more). Afterwards, I literally needed days to recover! I was drained of all ambition and interest in entrepreneurship. It was terrible.

Since then, I've run into other attendees who had the same reaction. It actually feels great knowing I wasn't alone - you know... in the crowd...

As an introvert and an entrepreneur, I know I have to get out there to build relationships. You have to talk to customers after all, but not just that. More than half the jobs I've ever landed came from an inbound request from a friend or former colleague. Sending 100 resumes never seems to work... maybe I'm doing it wrong - to be tackled in another post perhaps.

Whether you're like me or not, my advice is to recognize what you are, and schedule time to replenish. It's going to happen whether you want to or not - like getting hungry or sleepy. Sooner or later your mind shuts down and refuses to do anything else, so you might as well plan for it.
